چکیده

While interest in underground gas storage (UGS) of hydrogen (H 2 ) salt caverns is increasing a growing H economy, knowledge the microbial communities inhabiting those hypersaline environments still scarce. High concentrations and limited availability carbon (C) sources cavern reduce growth rates metabolic activities. Growth conditions potentially change once stored caverns. universal electron donor that can facilitate autotrophic subsequently heterotrophs. In this study, mixed culture enriched from UGS sites was investigated microcosm experiments with atmosphere, testing effect different C on methanogenesis, sulfate reduction homoacetogenesis. Sulfate, acetate lactate were quantified throughout time span 125 days incubation correlations community structure function explored through 16S rRNA gene-based amplicon sequencing at end experiment. Many sequence variants (ASVs) only assigned to family or order level, reflecting large number ASVs belong previously undescribed taxa. At 4.4 M NaCl, close brine salinity, members Desulfovibrionales absent when no source other than CO offered as sole source. This line finding occurred these conditions. Acetogenic Halanaerobiia dominated high salinity levels. Based metagenome four selected samples, we found acetogenesis relies activity halophilic homoacetogen, Acetohalobium sp. most likely be associated so far member Desulfonatronovibrionales. We further discuss discrepancy between heterotrophic conditions, while observed under although produced homoacetogenic . For application , means presence aforementioned microorganisms must investigated, they eventually lead formation allow relevant concentrations.

Underground Storage of Natural Gas in Indiana

Underground gas storage is the practical means of making available the increased supplies of natural gas that are needed in Indiana in winter periods of peak demand. To date, 21 gas storage projects providing an estimated storage capacity of 48 billion cubic feet have been initiated. Expansion of storage capacity is anticipated. Basic geologic factors and availability of subsurface information ...

Investigation of Underground Gas Storage in a Partially Depleted Naturally Fractured Gas Reservoir

In this work, studies of underground gas storage (UGS) were performed on a partially depleted, naturally fractured gas reservoir through compositional simulation. Reservoir dynamic model was calibrated by history matching of about 20 years of researvoir production. Effects of fracture parameters, i.e. fracture shape factor, fracture permeability and porosity were studied. Results show...

Selection of the Best Efficient Method for Natural Gas Storage at High Capacities Using TOPSIS Method

Nowadays one of the most important energy sources is natural gas. By depletion of oil reservoirs in the world, natural gas will emerge as the future energy source for human life. One of the major concerns of gas suppliers is being able to supply this source of energy the entire year. This concern intensifies during more consuming seasons of the year when the demand for natural gas increases, r...

Sulfate-dependent acetate oxidation under extremely natron-alkaline conditions by syntrophic associations from hypersaline soda lakes.

So far, anaerobic sulfate-dependent acetate oxidation at high pH has only been demonstrated for a low-salt-tolerant syntrophic association of a clostridium 'Candidatus Contubernalis alkalaceticum' and its hydrogenotrophic sulfate-reducing partner Desulfonatronum cooperativum. Anaerobic enrichments at pH 10 inoculated with sediments from hypersaline soda lakes of the Kulunda Steppe (Altai, Russi...
